Help with the use of the indefinite article?

I believe both, though a little awkwardly worded, are grammatically correct. However, it would be better to specify the viewpoint: "I'm sorry to hear that I will never convince you to change your mind on this/that viewpoint you hold." Also, "on" could alternatively be changed to "about."
